Our Adventures


As many people will know we are soon to be leaving England and travelling the world for a total of seven months.

Our adventures will start in May and we thought it best to put together a small blog focusing on our friends and family and anyone else who wants to follow our adventures.


About our trip

So as I'm sure you are aware we love travelling. I grew up in the Czech Republic and have traveled around a lot of Europe. Olivia herself has done a lot of travelling and lived in the Alps for six months. Just in case you forget what we look like while we are gone, below is a picture of us on top of the Duomo in Milan taken in September 2017.



We have been plotting to go travelling since a few month after we got married and have now finally taken the plunge and are going to leave in May to see the world.

Our route

We start off in Croatia (Split & Dubrovnik) before we go overland towards Turkey through Bosnia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Kosovo. 
From Turkey we then fly to East Asia where we are visiting China, Japan and Singapore. 

From here we are visiting some of the pacific and are spending time in New Zealand (Christchurch and Kaikoura, Rotorua, Wellington and Auckland) and Fiji. 

We then fly to South America and are travelling up the length of the continent. We shall be visiting Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia. 

Our last leg of the journey takes us to Cancun and the Yucatan region of Mexico. 

We should then be flying back towards London in early December. 

We hope that we will keep you posted with our travels and endeavor to regularly share what we have seen and experienced as a part of our travels.

Puerto Morelos The wonky old Lighthouse So off we went from Tulum roaring down the road towards out final destination. For this we had chosen Puerto Morelos, a small fishing town (or a small drinking town with a fishing problem as one bar described it). Although there are other more famous places we could have gone to such as Playa del Carmen or Cancun we had decided on Puerto Morelos as it was described as being less busy and resorty but a little more charming. For this reason it was a little bit of a shock when we had been bombarded by people asking us into their shop as soon as we stepped out of the taxi that had run us the few miles from the bus station to the sea front.  Beautiful cups at Lola y Moya Our time here was short and generally meant to be relaxing, as a result there wasn't a breadth of things that we had planned to do apart from walking by the sea front and seeing the wonky old lighthouse. 75 things that we've learnt while travelling

So everyone talks about travel being an amazing opportunity to see and learn more about the world and all the wonderful things it has to offer. Food 1. Ron is the Spanish word for rum This really surprised me, but mostly because the Harry Potter books must read really differently in Spanish Book: And then Harry got into the car with Ron Spanish Reader: yep Book: And the car started to fly Spanish Reader: Obviously Book: And they crashed the car into the tree Spanish Reader: Well that's quite common with Ron and driving 2. Papaya tastes yucky, especially when you think it's orange juice So bad! 3. Most Mexican food isn't Mexican By this I mean that everything you think of as Mexican food isn't really. Chile Con Carne for example is actually Texan. Although we did have Burritos and Quesadillas which were really good. 4. Burek is akin to Mana  Unlike Papaya, so good! Storm the Fortresses, Our Journey in Montenegro

Montenegro With rising black mountains and deep blue bays Montenegro was a place which was full of stunning views for us. We got on the bus from beautiful Dubrovnik and took the winding coastal road down towards the Montenegrin border. The border was a bit long as we had to all get off the bus for both borders. Upon crossing the border we hit quite a lot of rain and this gave our first glimpse of Montenegro a very sinister and gloomy look. This said it didn't ruin the experience but rather added to it. Kotor While in Kotor we stayed in the old town and this gloomy effect really made it feel like we were immersed in some old medieval town with it's white walls and cobbled streets. Kotor itself is an old Venetian fortress leftover from the Albanian kingdom of the aforementioned empire. To be honest it was all a bit much during the day as many cruise ships offload in Kotor so the whole town is teeming with tourists. During the evening however the town is very relaxed a
