Tulum: Paradise by the Sea

Image
Paradise by the Sea At the beach Journey The journey here was really easy and simply consisted of flagging a bus down from outside our accommodation in Chichen Itza and then going all the way to Tulum. We hopped off the bus and made our way to the next place we were staying. But we were early, I know right, what is it with these short non-20-hour bus journeys? So we left our bags and went off in search off food, it's what we do best afterall. A turtle we found at our accommodation The place that we ended up going to was at the other end of town and served the most fantastic burritos! Burrito Amor is named after love and we did indeed love the burritos. We had a vegetable burrito and a bean and cheese burrito. What really made it though were the garlic and chipotle sauces that came with all the goodness. The fresh juice is certainly something we'll miss back in England as well. I can see the sea! Tulum is a bit of an odd place as there are effectively th...

Ica and the Icky Toes

Ica and the Icky Toes Olivia climbing one of the massive sand dunes Considering Nazca didn't have a centralized terminal, simply ticket offices, our journey to Ica was surprisingly easy. We took the same bus we had taken the day before to view the Nazca lines from the Marie Reich Tower, but instead of getting off we continued forwards. The main awkwardness was that they rushed us onto a bus right after we had bought ice cream, surprisingly there was only one ice cream/body part dip. But we trundled along in the bus, watching the usual odd collection of films. This time we seemed to have opted away from the graphically violent films (some prison boxing films and war films) but instead had the odd children's horror type films of Goosebumps and Nightmare before Christmas, yes it would appear that has started here too. The many palm trees of Huacachina We finally arrived at the Soyuz bus terminal after about two, maybe three hours. We disembarked and were greeted by...

A little bit of Arica by my side The view of the Sea We arrived in the early morning in Arica, having taken the overnight bus from San Pedro . Arica was only to be our destination to break a long journey northwards so we only remained here for a few days. As I mentioned in our previous post we had arrived on Wednesday, a day that appeared to be the hangover cure day of all the mass celebrations. Our bus arrived earlier than anticipated so we waited at the bus station for a little while before heading to our accommodation in the North of the town. Olivia enjoying the beach When we arrived we found our accommodation relatively easily and was greeted by a very sweet lady who made us a hot drink and gave us some cake from her daughters birthday the day before. It was a great cake of layered pieces of pastry, cream, dulce de leche and strawberries. We felt well and truly spoiled. After enjoying our cake we headed for a nap before we left for the day to find an open shop and ...
